Easter dress up

This is one of my favorite songs/scenes from a musical ever.

Put on your Sunday clothes when you feel down and out.
Strut down the street and have your picture took.
Dressed like a dream your spirits seem to turn about.
That Sunday shine is a certain sign
That you feel as fine as you look.

Beneath your parasol, the world is all a smile
That makes you feel brand new down to your toes.
Get out your feathers, your patent leathers,
Your beads and buckles and bows.
For there's no blue Monday in your Sunday clothes!

I love that the song is about how dressing up can improve your mood, something I've found all my life.

And, though my family has never been religious, there was a time when we went to church regularly (we lived in a small town and it was the base of socializing there). Back then, Sundays were my favorite day because they were an excuse to dress up.

Today, Easter Sunday, is, of course, the ultimate Sunday for "putting on your Sunday clothes," and, though I did not attend mass this morning, I did have fun dressing up.

Easter was always one of my favorite holidays and the reason for that is twofold:
1) I got to buy a new dress.
2) Said dress was generally pastel.

My lifelong love for pastels is a bit sickening.

Okay, here's what I wore today.

I had a lovely breakfast with my family this morning: strata and broiled grapefruit with ginger and caramelized sugar...

Then, we decided to watch Cabaret and drink prairie oysters like they do in the movie and also because it seemed Easter appropriate (eggs, you know.)

I am super excited about the royal wedding next weekend and my brother's wedding the weekend after that.
